Why Peter Rabbit™?

Why Peter Rabbit™?
Who doesn’t love a little bunny?
These soft-footed, bright-eyed creatures are among the most endearing in the whole countryside, with their quick twitches and thoughtful pauses among the brambles. Rabbit paws are made for quiet scurrying along garden paths—just as we’ll all be hopping our way through Worcester in the summer of 2027.
And who better to accompany us, than Peter Rabbit himself? In a year which also marks the 125th anniversary of the first publication of Beatrix Potter’s Tale of Peter Rabbit!
Peter Rabbit is one of the most beloved characters in the world, charming generations with his adventurous spirit, curiosity, and just the right amount of mischief. His tales have shaped childhoods, whispering lessons about courage, kindness, and resilience – even in the face of loss.
In the same way, our St Richard’s fluffle is here for our community: for anyone living with an illness that cannot be cured, and for their loved ones navigating grief, loneliness, and bereavement – including children and young people.

We have chosen the country rabbit as our sculpture
With its velvety ears, gentle gaze, and creamy-tipped tail, it reflects the tenderness, bravery, and quiet togetherness woven through Peter’s world.
If there is one thing rabbits excel at, it’s snuggling close. Ever watchful and ever caring, they tuck together in cosy nests when the weather turns. Just as we do here at St Richard’s – caring for patients and families across Worcestershire, the rabbit feels like our perfect spirit animal. And, they can often be seen bouncing round our beautiful hospice gardens which offer a place of calm and comfort for patients, families and visitors.
Peter Rabbit™ in the warrens of Worcester is another wonderful opportunity to make lasting memories with our own little huddles – our fluffles – while celebrating the memories of those we can no longer hold close but who remain nestled in our hearts.
Peter Rabbit knows that even in the toughest of times, we are always stronger together.
Now that you know the inspiration behind our next trail, we’d love you to hop with us in the summer of 2027.
The Auction
After the summer in 2027 our wonderful fluffle of Peter Rabbit sculptures will take centre stage at an auction to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice. All thirty-five large Peter Rabbit sculptures and one little bunny will go under the hammer, whilst the remaining bunnies will return to the schools and community groups who decorated them, as a lasting legacy to Peter Rabbit™ in the warrens of Worcester.
