Manufacturing company’s ‘special’ support for hospice art trail

A Worcester-based business which has backed all three of the city’s public art trails has thrown its support behind a fourth event next summer.
Global manufacturing company, Southco Manufacturing Ltd, has signed up to sponsor Peter Rabbit™ in the warrens of Worcester, having been a big part of the city’s giraffe, elephant and penguin trails which first began in 2018.
Seventy-five Peter Rabbit™ sculptures, large and small, will go on display across the city for eight weeks next summer, before each large sculpture is auctioned to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice. The smaller rabbits will be returned to the schools and groups which decorated them.
“We’ve loved being part of the last three trails in the city and the team here is really looking forward to seeing a posse of Peter Rabbit sculptures take over the city next summer. It’s also a brilliant opportunity for us to give something back and support the amazing care that St Richard’s continues to provide across Worcestershire.”
— Philip Kempson, Managing Director at Southco Manufacturing Ltd
Each large sculpture is being funded by companies and individuals from across Worcestershire and beyond – with just a handful of sponsorship opportunities remaining.
“It’s wonderful to have our friends from Southco by our sides once again for what promises to be another unforgettable event in the city next summer. The Southco team have been part of our art trail story from the very beginning. They’ve sponsored sculptures and bought at auction, helping provide much-needed funds for local hospice care. That kind of ongoing support is really special and something we are incredibly grateful for.”
— Sara Matthews, Business Development Manager, St Richard’s Hospice
Any school or community group in the county can apply to receive a mini Peter Rabbit™ sculpture before transforming it from plain white to a work of art. Places are limited and will be drawn at random.
Peter Rabbit™ in the warrens of Worcester is supported by Presenting Partners Chapel & Friary Walk, Connect Worcestershire, DRPG, Worcester BID and Worcestershire Ambassadors, and Media Partners the Worcester News and BBC Hereford & Worcester.
The project is also supported by The World of Peter Rabbit™, which is managed by Penguin Ventures, the licensing and consumer products division of Penguin Random House Children’s UK.
