Peter Rabbit™ is one of the most beloved characters in the world, charming generations with his adventurous spirit, curiosity, and just the right amount of mischief. His stories have shaped childhoods, teaching lessons about courage, kindness, and resilience – even in the face of loss.
In the same way, our St Richard’s fluffle of rabbits is here for our community: for anyone living with an illness that cannot be cured, and for their loved ones navigating grief, loneliness, and bereavement – including children and young people.
Peter Rabbit knows that even in the toughest of times we are always stronger together.
2027 also marks the 125th anniversary of the first publication of Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Peter Rabbit!
Our small promotional sculpture is painted to represent Peter Rabbit himself, by Jodie Silverman. Find out more about Jodie
Poppy’s artwork is bursting with blooms, including poppies – a universal symbol of remembrance and resilience. The mix of pastels and pop of bold berry colours capture the warmth and playfulness of the original Beatrix Potter stories.
Poppy’s design is gentle and heartwarming – words often used to describe our care here at St Richard’s.

Schools & Community Groups
Integral to the main event is the Community & Education Programme, which will open to all schools and community groups in Worcestershire in September 2026. We invite schools, youth clubs, community groups and children’s services to get involved and share the amazing experience of Peter Rabbit™ in the warrens of Worcester.
Smaller Peter Rabbit sculptures accompany our large Peter Rabbit sculptures, exhibited in cosy nests within Friary and Chapel Walk and selected shops within the city. The smaller sculptures complement and add value to the main art trail, showcasing the creativity of groups within our community.
Once the trail has drawn to a close, the colourful sculptures will be returned to their creators as a permanent legacy of their involvement with Peter Rabbit™ in the warrens of Worcester.
Applications for this scheme are now open via a Bunny Ballot. The ballot will close at 5pm on Friday 18 September 2026. Successful schools and groups will be notified on 23 September 2026.
The Bunny Ballot entry is via completing an Online Ballot form.
Following unprecedented interest in our Community & Education Programme previously, we want to ensure our small sculpture sponsors are chosen in the fairest way possible. So, this time, schools and groups must enter a Bunny Ballot, for a chance to take part in the trail.
The Bunny Ballot entry is via completing an Online Ballot form.
The Bunny Ballot is a random draw for schools and community groups, to be a part of the Community and Education Programme associated with the Peter Rabbit™ in the warrens of Worcester Art Trail. The programme provides supported learning activities, alongside a Medium-size Peter Rabbit sculpture, that will be a part of an art trail around Worcester City Centre in the summer of 2027. Following a Farewell Event at the end of the summer, the smaller sculptures will return to the schools and community groups that decorated them, as a lasting legacy to their involvement in the trail.
There is no guarantee that your application will be successful. Entry into the Bunny Ballot does not automatically entitle applicants to a sculpture, but to a place in the draw.

Only one entry per school/ community group will go into the ballot, however all those who entered that particular school or group will be notified by email.
Depending on the option selected on your Bunny Ballot form, will depend on when payment will need to be made, as follows:

Artist Programme
Every Peter Rabbit sculpture on parade will be perfectly presented – showcasing the wealth of artistic talent on offer in Worcestershire and beyond.
From September to December 2026, we will be calling for artists to deliver dapper designs for the sculptures and submit them to us.
Designs will be shortlisted before the final artwork is hand-picked by our sponsors, and brought to life by the artists for display over eight weeks in the summer of 2027.
Any artist is welcome to submit designs – whether established, or just starting out; from the Worcestershire area or further afield.
Full Terms and Conditions for the Artist Programme will be available on our website nearer the Artist Programme launch in September 2026. can be viewed at www.warrensofworceser.co.uk/artists
There are two stages to the selection process;
Stage 1: the initial submissions will be shortlisted to 100 designs. Artists will be notified if their designs have been shortlisted to stage 2.
Stage 2: Sculpture sponsors will attend a selection event, where they will select their chosen design to adorn their sculpture.
Successful Artists will be notified following the Selection Event, which will take place in March 2027.
If commissioned, you will be paid! There is an award of £1,000. Payment will be made in 2 instalments; 50% in March 2027 and 50% on return of the completed sculpture.
Some artists may choose to waiver this fee in support of St Richard’s Hospice, the beneficiary charity of Peter Rabbit™ in the warrens of Worcester but this isn’t an expectation.
The Peter Rabbit sculpture will be provided to you at no charge. However, cost of all materials, is your responsibility, with the exception of the varnish, which will be provided.
Painting will take place in a public painting space located in Worcester city. Should you choose to paint your sculpture elsewhere, you will be responsible for associated collection and delivery costs, along with insurance.
You will need to be available to paint a Peter Rabbit sculpture for a period between March-May 2027, allowing yourself enough time to complete the decoration process, varnish and drying time.
Following the trail event, the Peter Rabbit sculptures will be auctioned in October 2027 to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice.
Artist Programme – Design Guidelines
- The design submission deadline is Friday 8 January 2027.
- You may submit a maximum of three designs but please be aware that, other than in exceptional circumstances, no more than two can be commissioned.
- We will require you to sign our standard copyright agreement, included in the artist’s submission form for each design you submit.
- Any submissions made to this trail must be unique and not have been commissioned for any other art trail. If you are applying for multiple trails at the same time and use the same design, you must withdraw the design from other trails if selected.
- Designs are only accepted via the design template, which is available to download from this website.
- The design must represent a piece of work that you have the ability to reproduce on a 3d sculpture.
- Designs must be appropriate for public display. The audience will be broad-based, of all ages, and the trail will have an even greater interest for children.
- Designs that are religious, political or sexual in nature will not be accepted. In addition, neither corporate logos nor advertising is allowed and we cannot accept designs which infringe on third party Intellectual Property, i.e. Star Wars, Disney etc or include any other copyrighted characters.
- Peter Rabbit™ in the warrens of Worcester is an interactive event so please bear in mind your sculpture will be repeatedly touched and although it is strongly discouraged, occasionally sat on by members of the public. It is not advisable for artists to attach items to the sculpture unless secured robustly as it is likely that they will be removed in a very short space of time. If your design includes an attachment, you will be required to supply information detailing any proposed materials and processes and explain how the attachment will be secured. Approval of any attachments must be sought from St Richard’s Hospice in advance. You will be responsible for repairing any attachment which becomes broken during the event.
- Please do not alter the basic sculpture shape. If an Artist’s design includes adapting the structure of the sculpture, the Artist will be required to supply supporting information explaining how the alterations will be carried out. The Artist will be responsible for any associated resulting damage to the sculpture during the event and will be required to repair the sculpture wherever possible.
- While we welcome all art forms, experience has taught us that collage and/or sticking paper or paper-based products onto the sculpture does not prove as effective as painting or mosaics. Please consider this before submitting your design.
- When placed on the streets, each sculpture is bolted to a concrete base using fixings. Artists are requested to keep the base area clear of any attachments.
- Artist’s materials are not provided. The use of artists quality acrylic paints and good quality emulsion is recommended although artificial resin paint or two component paint can also be used to paint or spray a design. Your completed sculpture will need to be finished with a waterproof non-yellowing varnish which will be provided by St Richard’s Hospice. You are responsible for varnishing your own sculpture – instruction will be provided.
- If any damage takes place during the duration of the trail, we will endeavour to give artists first refusal to make any repairs. If you are unable to commit to this, you must consent to St Richard’s Hospice appointing another artist to make necessary repairs and touch-ups. We ask that you provide a list of materials used, including brands and colours. Where possible, if mixing bespoke colours, please provide leftovers or sample pots for repair purposes.
- St Richard’s Hospice will provide a communal painting space in Worcester city centre for you to create your work on your sculpture. We encourage you to use this space – however, should you decide to paint your sculpture in your own studio you will be responsible for collecting and returning it to the painting space at your own cost, within the designated time frames.
- Think about Worcestershire and Worcester city centre, their culture, sporting prowess, architecture, geography and history.
- Consider the sponsors – they will be selecting designs – take a look on our Sponsors page to find out who they are, what they do and what’s important to them.
- Reflect on placement and backdrop against the iconic landmarks in Worcester city.
- Consider the beneficiary – St Richard’s Hospice.
- Review the Worcestershire landscape, its flora and fauna.

- Work will be commissioned after selection by sponsors at the Sponsor Selection Event. This decision on all matters related to the work selected is final. No further correspondence will be entered into.
- Upon commissioning, St Richard’s Hospice or Wild in Art will enter into a separate contract with you to include an agreed schedule and the terms and conditions of engagement.
- St Richard’s Hospice will provide a painting space in Worcester city centre for you to paint your sculpture throughout the painting period. If you are not able to paint the sculpture in the painting space, you will be responsible for the cost of transporting the sculpture to your studio or alternative location, and back to the painting space once you have completed it.
- St Richard’s Hospice reserves the right to withhold any fee payable to you in connection with the event if in its sole opinion the quality of the finished work falls below that which can be reasonably expected for public display and/or is substantially different from the submitted design.
- The sculpture remains, at all times, the property of St Richard’s Hospice and must be returned in good order.

Payment will be made within 28 working days of each invoice being received.
- Commissioned artists are encouraged to document the painting and production of their sculpture, for example using photographs, video and time-lapse video. These records are to be used by, or solely with the agreement of, St Richard’s Hospice in order to promote the launch of the trail or to continue promotion throughout the duration of the trail. Other than in exceptional, approved circumstances they are not to be used before the launch of the trail.
- Care should be taken regarding the representation of finished sculptures on social media. Artists should be aware that the Peter Rabbit character does not speak on social media, so no social media posts should read as if it the character is ‘talking’.
- St Richard’s Hospice and Wild in Art may from time to time produce facsimiles of the completed sculpture in both 2D and 3D form, excluding figurines. For the avoidance of doubt, any agreement reached in connection with any facsimile of your design should include any consideration to be paid to you by St Richard’s Hospice and/or Wild in Art and require transfer of rights to St Richard’s Hospice and Wild in Art.

All sculptures are covered by St Richard’s Hospice insurance whilst they are being held at DRPG (auction venue). On collection or after 22 October 2027 (whichever is first) you are responsible for any insurance.
Peter Rabbit™ in the warrens of Worcester builds on the hugely successful Worcester Stands Tall, Worcester’s Big Parade and the great Waddle of Worcester auctions in 2018, 2021 which reached £210,000, £368,800 and £330,000 respectively for the hospice.
The art trails to date have collectively raised more than £1.2 million for the hospice.
The funds raised from Peter Rabbit™ in the warrens of Worcester will help to fund the care provided by St Richard’s Hospice to patients with an illness that can’t be cured. their loved ones, and bereaved people across Worcestershire. The hospice relies on the support of the community for the majority of its income, with 20 per cent funded by the NHS.
